Abstract

This research is classroom action research. The aim of this research is to improve students’ learning achievement of geometry for first grade students of SD Negeri Sumber 1 Berbah Sleman. Subject of research is the students of first grade of elementary school. The data collection technique used is the technique of observation, depth interview, and documentation. Analysis of the data used in this study is twofold qualitative and quantitative data analysis. Qualitative analysis is used to provide information that describes the learning outcome and implementation of learning, whereas quantitative analysis is used to analyze the value of learning outcomes of students. The results of this research shows that the learning achievement of the students are increasing, which was originally learners who pass KKM only 7 students or 25% of the total students in the class, after the action pass KKM to 24 students or 89%. The development of individuals and groups also improved very well. This is evident in the development of each learner and the value of the group. Through this learning, a sense of belonging to the responsibilities and intense interaction between children of group members generate more positive feelings toward the problem tasks, improve intergroup relations, and more important is to produce an image of themselves better in self-learners who have low achievements.
