Abstract

Most people in Indonesia consume rice as their staple food. To produce high-quality and high-quantity rice, intensive and extensive efforts are required from various sectors. One of the efforts to increase rice quantity involves protecting rice plants from pests caused by nature or the environment. Bird pests are common in many rice fields, which can reduce both the quality and quantity of the rice produced. Typically, farmers manually handle bird pests by tying strings across the fields with various noise-making toys and scarecrows to drive away the birds. This method is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and not very effective or efficient. Therefore, the aim of this project is to help farmers maintain the quantity of rice produced by designing a bird repellent device powered by solar panels as an alternative energy source. This technology uses an automatic bird repellent system with solar panels to power speakers that emit sounds to scare away birds. The electrical energy is sourced from solar cells with high- capacity storage batteries.
