Abstract

Primary education is the level that is expected to instill character values to form a superior generation of intelligent and noble. Hamemayu Hayuning Bawono is the philosophy of the Java community, especially Yogyakarta which includes the value of the character that has made the world a sense of the beautiful (beautiful). Beautiful world depicted by the harmonious relationship that causes happiness is the harmony of man's relationship with God Almighty, man's relationship with fellow human beings and the human relationship with the natural environment. As teachers teach sosial studies in elementary school either using a thematic approach and an integrated approach to sosial studies, teachers can incorporate the philosophy that includes character Hamemayu Hayuning Bawono graduates into the eight competencies that have been arranged in Permendiknas 23, 2006. Thus, the superior character education that is intelligent and noble can be started from elementary through learning-based IPS Hamemayu Hayuning Bawono character.
