Abstract

The availability of nitrogen in the soil is one of the limiting factors to support growth and soybeans productivity. Soybeans are legumes that can symbiosis with Rhizobium japonicum to fixation nitrogen. Nitrogen needs for the soybean crop can be obtained through the fixation of N2, NH4+ and NO3- absorption. This study aims to determine the ability of various soybean cultivars in nitrogen fixation after inoculated with Rhizobium japonicum. The experimental design used was completely randomized design with three replications of two factors. The first factor consisted of 16 cultivars of soybean cultivars that Anjasmara, Ijen, Malabar, Sibayak, Seulawah, Sinabung, Wilis, Tanggamus, Surya, Gepak Kuning, Galunggung, Argomulyo, Grobogan, Garut, Baluran, Petek. The second factor consists of two levels, namely without inoculation and soybean legin inoculated. Inoculation of Rhizobium japonicum on Anjasmara, Seulawah, Gepak Kuning, Grobogan, and Garut can not increase the activity of nitrogenase enzyme. At cultivars Anjasmara, Sibayak, seulawah, Sinabung, and Gepak Kuning inoculation of Rhizobium japonicum can not increase the weight of the N canopy.
