Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of planting distance and dosage of urea fertilizer on the growth of weeds and the result of corn plant (Zea mays L.). This study was conducted in fields trials of Agricultural Faculty of UPY at Soboman village, Ngestiharjo, Kasihan ,Bantul, Yogyakarta, in February to Mei 2016. This study used factorial method in a completely randomized design which group consists of three replications as blocks. The first factor is the planting distance that consists of three levels namely; 25 x 30, 25 x 45, and 25 x 60 cm. The second factor is dosage of urea fertilizer that consists of three levels namely; without urea fertilizer (control), 225, and 450 kg/ha. The analysis technique used is the analysis of variance (ANOVA) at 5% significance level. The result showed planting distance of 25 x 60 cm produced a mean dry weight of shelled corn per plant highest, while planting distance of 25 x 30 cm cm produces a mean dry weight of shelled corn per hectare highest. Urea fertilizer dose of 450 kg/ha produced a mean dry weight of shelled corn per plant and per hectare highest.There is interaction between planting distance and dosage of urea fertilizer on the lengthof the corncob.
